Game 4: French Kiss – HKDC Squadron

Another week, another team, and due to some late notices, and late arrivals, an unexpected team was to take on HKDC Squadron. The coach had come up with a different game plan, trying to tackle the problems that were all too clear last week. A lot of input from the players as well (thanks Ken, Kurt, Paolo , Henrique, and others I forgot here).
End result: French Kiss 2 – HKDC Squadron 3
The team: Simon in goal, A 3 man defense with Fabio as a sweaper and Vojta and Evan (who volunteered to be defender, thanks Evan) as full backs. A fortified midfield with Angel , Henrique and Thomas in the center, Edo and Paolo on the side, and runners in attack with Rudi and Jackal. On the side, not a lot with Kurt (a regular now) and Stefan (still an emergency) with Milan who arrived late, and Lewis who failed to show up.
Before the game, we tried to focus on play football, support each other on the pitch, and have some fun as well. The game started slowly, as both teams had difficulties with the very hot mid October afternoon. Still, for the first time this year, French Kiss was really playing, and enjoying. A great cross from Edo (I think, not entirely sure, maybe Jackal), the slightest of touches by Rudi and Paolo had a great left foot finish, 1-0. After the goal, Squadron increased the pressure, and the equalizer they scored was deserved.
At half time, no changes, as the team was doing well. Second half went better, and the game went both ways. Edo was unfortunate to make the slightest of contact in the box, Squadron accepted the present from the man in yellow, and was leading 2-1. Still, French Kiss kept fighting, finally, and came back as well. A fine equalizer by Angel. At the end, the legs got tired, maybe concentration faded a little, and we were unlucky enough to concede a third goal, two minutes from time. Damn. A disappointed team, a disappointed coach but still, a clear light at the tunnel. If we keep playing in this spirit, we do have the quality to win games. French Kiss definitely belongs in the YYL first division.
Let’s produce some undisputable prove of this coming Sunday.
