Game 2: French Kiss – Club Albion

First game in Hong Kong football club, and a full squad available,
French Kiss was ready for business on the second day of the season
End result: French Kiss 1 – Club Albion 3
The team: Nico in goal, Fabio and Adrien in central defense, Ken on the right and
Vojta on the left. In central midfield, Angel and Henrique, with Rudi on the right and captain Paolo on the left, in attack last week’s goalscorers Edo and Thomas. On the side, we had the luxury of having Simon, Simone, Lewis, Jackal and Evan ready to make an impact.
Club Albion, a very experienced and tall team, dictated the first minutes and looked menacing, but French Kiss was really ready from the first minute this time. Our first real attack, after about 10 minutes, was capitalized on by Thomas, our first lead of the season. The game was equal, fast and tough. Just like last week, injury struck French Kiss and in the first half, Jackal came in for Thomas and Simone had to take Vojta’s position. To add to the problems, we invited Club Albion to score an equalizer with the most unchallenged header ever.
Second half? Yes, the referee made a mistake by not allowing us a penalty, and yes, we were unlucky not to score from some early chances, and yes, they were tough on us, as they always are. That is still no reason to start focusing on the referee, on each other’s mistakes, on the other side instead of just playing football, the way we can, and enjoy a Sunday afternoon of football. So we lost, and we probably deserved it in the end.
Let’s have some fun on training and on the six a side tournament on next week’s public holiday. And let’s be really positive on the pitch, we are supposed to have fun there, even when people try to deny that to us. The next game is going to be another extremely difficult one, but I want total control, nothing negative, and will try my best to give the good example, by not attacking with a mouthful from the sideline, and by not sending chairs flying. See you all tonight.
Next game: Dragons (KCC), on Sunday October 12th, 7:30 p.m., in King's Park Upper. Not to miss !!
