French Kiss - White Youth

With the New Year’s celebrations less than one week behind, French Kiss came into the first game 2008 with some additional weight to put. Because of extended holidays, injury, suspension and crazy working schedules, the team looked again completely different. We were happy to have some French Kiss stars back for this game, to complete the team. Special thanks to Seb and Yann for making themselves available.

Game 12: French Kiss - White Youth : 4 - 3

 

With a well developed game plan as usual, coach Steven fielded:
Fabio in goal, Fabio and Maarten in central defense, Ken on the right and Seb on the left. In central midfield, Etienne and Jurian with Rudi on the right and Paolo on the left, in attack Jackal and Mauro. On the side, we had Yann, Tim, Davido, Henry and Julien, all more or less ready to join the battle. Much to our delight, our supporters and cheerleaders were present as well.

White Youth scraped just 11 players together, and looked like a bunch gathered on the spot, rather than a well prepared football team. They arrived 10 minutes before kick off, did not really wear team kits, and skipped the warm up. At half time, thanks to Fabio, they were leading by two to nil only, it could have been much worse.
On the side, a speechless coach decided to field the same 11. They were the ones who made it happen in the first half, maybe they could turn it around. White Youth meanwhile lost a player, continued with 10, but that did not really show. First 10 minutes, they were dominating us again. Then finally some French Kiss magic. A Jackal goal kicked the engine, and the team woke up. We started creating chance after chance, and scored 3 more. Mauro and Jackal divided the honors, scoring two each. Yann and Tim joined, and French Kiss was leading against 9 White Youth players. From nothing, they scored a third one, French Kiss started trembling, and they came close to an equalizer. We scraped out a win, mainly because they were more focusing on the referee, than on finishing off a weak French Kiss team.
A regular team wins the games they are good, a champion team wins the games they are bad as well. Conclusion of this game, we are a real champion team. Still, it would not hurt to come to training, and to improve. Next week’s cup game is a nice occasion to improve. Hearts must be very optimistic, as their spy saw only the first half yesterday.
