French Kiss - Spartans

The Coach's picture

After last week’s win, a hard fought and well deserved one, French Kiss had another battle on this Sunday. Spartans, a team that brought back good memories to the French Kiss anciens, played a good game against 816 last week, and was to be handled with care. A good warm up seemed to get the team ready for action.

End result: French Kiss - Spartans: 5 - 0

The Team:
Fabio in goal, Fabio, Adrien, Ken and Miguel in defense, Angel, Etienne, Henry and Paolo in midfield, Henrique and Jackal in attack. With question marks for some starting players, caused by different reasons, like threatening injuries or late nights out in Lan Kwai Fong, we were happy to have a strong bench with Julien, Rudi, Lewis and Davido, and with coach Steven actually wearing football shoes, as a last resort in case of injuries. As a proof of the growing fame of French Kiss, we had a big group of enthousiast supporters as well, thank you all for that.

The first 15 minutes of the game were skipped by both teams, and were spend by kicking the ball high and dry from one side of the pitch to the other, without really having an idea where it would end up. Bad news for French Kiss, captain Miguel suffered an injury, and Julien filled in on right back. After 20 minutes, French Kiss started to play some football. With some real passing work, some nice actions, we started creating real chances. Strangely enough, it was right back Julien who became our most dangerous man. Jackal, in the hope to win his bet with the coach, added a beauty to his tally, and French Kiss was leading 1-0. We did not add more, although we had the chances, with even a great Etienne strike stopped on the goal line by a French Kiss attacker. Shit happens, sometimes.

At half time, a tactical change with Lewis joining the attack, and Henrique being pulled back to midfield. The chances kept coming, and we kept missing them. Rudi replaced Jackal. He had seen enough from the side and decided to finish of the game. The second goal, scored by Rudi, actually finished of the game. Numbers 3, 4 and 5, by Lewis, Angel and Rudi’s second, came in quick succession. Davido took part in the game, replacing Fabio in goal, and Steven was tempted to join the game, but turned down calls from Adrien and Paolo. Maybe next time guys, I need some extra training first.

In the end, a 5-0 win, well deserved, and bring us to 13 points. Two more games to go in the first round, with the Chinese topteams Antonhill and 816. I do hope we can keep the spirit going. In football qualities, all teams are about equally strong, so it will come down to team spirit.
