Game 10: Antonhill - French Kiss: 1 - 1

On another sunny Sunday afternoon in the park, King’s park to be more specifically, two Hong Kong teams gathered for a nice game of football in the friendship league. 2 hours later, after heated discussions, blood, sweat and tears spilled, all the actors went their way. We probably all agree it was a tough game of football, which most of us enjoyed. We are a bunch of weird guys, to people who don’t understand, but we all love football, so we keep playing, week after week. This is as far as the philosophy of the coach goes.

Last Sunday, as usual, the game plan was a rather simple one. Start with 11, enjoy playing football, eventually try to score one more than Antonhill. Everybody looked handsome and sweet, we have pictures as a proof, the weather was nice, and the spirits high after last week’s win.

Starting 11: Simon in goal, Fabio, Adrien, Ken and Dick, back from a well deserved suspension :-p, in defense, Jurian Henrique, Julien and Henry in midfield, Jackal and Lewis in attack. On the side, we had Davido and Cees in case of emergency, Etienne and Maarten ready to rumble, and Rudi preparing to score a goal or two.

As expected, Antonhill was ready for the game as well, with their spirits high after beating league leaders 816 last week. What we saw from the side was an amazing game of football. A great passing game from French Kiss, that resulted in a number of opportunities. Tough defending from Antonhill, with some help from their friends in yellow, and very quick counter attacks as well. It could have gone both ways, with great chances for the French Kiss attack, and heroics produced by Simon to keep the score level at half time.

Jurian, tired from a night flight, was replaced by Etienne at half time. The game continued and the play got tough. Simon was clearly playing too well, and got kicked of the pitch. The ref was the only guy in King’s Park who considered this fifty fifty, in stead of a well deserved red card. After Simon was taken care of, and replaced by Davido, the game continued.

The referee had done his part for Antonhill, probably inflicted us enough problems, and changed sides. We were given a well deserved penalty. Not a big issue, you would think, as Henry was clearly fouled, but you never know. Still, we got it, and Jackal scored it, cool as ice. Afterwards, the referee made it a complete joke, by giving an Antonhill attacker a yellow for diving, while a penalty would have been a more correct decision. Antonhill kept trying, to dive to get a compensation penalty , and to push to score goal. In the end, they got what they deserved, heading in a cross at the near post. Damn.

So a good game, a tough game, and a hand shake afterwards. Hope injuries at both sides will heal well,so we get ready for the next friendship battle.
